Consensus
Consensus
In my role as Chair of the Board of Directors, I was called upon to address several major challenges affecting the Francophone community. I embraced a leadership style rooted in proximity and attentive listening, with the goal of restoring harmony and unity within the community.
Over the course of eighteen years of volunteer work and advocacy, I have built strong relationships with political figures at all levels of government and across the political spectrum. In order to prioritize outcomes that truly support the growth and well-being of those I serve across the province, I made the deliberate choice to remain nonpartisan. It’s a choice I do not regret, as I value the exchange of ideas and the many ways of doing and seeing things around a common issue. Opening up to others is always enriching.
This work of building consensus helps shape a shared vision of a united community - one that is recognized by all levels of government and by Canadian society - through collaborative tools and concrete actions.
Community Engagement
Community Engagement
From the moment I arrived in British Columbia, I chose to fully invest myself in my community, driven by the conviction that solidarity and mutual support are the pillars of its growth. Collaborating with various institutions gave me the opportunity to contribute to the vitality of Francophone culture, improve access to services, and foster strong connections among its members.
I had the honour and privilege of contributing to the following organizations:
L’Association francophone de Surrey
Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver
Réseau-Femmes Colombie-Britannique et Ethno-femmes francophones
Société Inform’Elles
La Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique
Le COPA National
Centre de la francophonie des Amériques
Meaningful Results
Meaningful Results
As the old saying goes, a reputation takes months, even years to build. But through sustained and determined work, we have truly “reaped what we sowed,” to borrow another saying.
- The Francophonie Day Award presented by the Province of British Columbia
- Consensus among Francophone organizations in B.C. regarding employment services, which led to a historic legal action that contributed to the modernization of the Official Languages Act
- Increased funding for the 2018–2023 Action Plan for Official Languages
- The establishment of an agreement with Vancouver Airport authorities to develop French-language reception and support services for newcomers
- The modernization of the Official Languages Act
- The launch of work on a provincial policy for French-language services
Long-term vision
Long-term vision
Most of the challenges we face cannot be resolved in a matter of days or months. They require a long-term vision, a strategic approach, and sustained commitment. That’s why it’s essential to ground our actions in the long term starting today, in order to build a solid foundation for the future.
When I assumed the presidency of the FFCB, it was essential to restore the institution to its rightful place, a recognition that was not automatically granted. I therefore focused my efforts on strengthening its presence and influence, particularly through political and public representation. Whether in discussions with government bodies or in the media, my commitment has always been to advocate clearly and confidently for my community’s priorities, in order to ensure it receives the visibility and support needed for its growth.
