ABOUT ME
A story of roots, resilience, and service
My name is Padminee Chundunsing — a proud Mauritian who became Canadian in 2009.
Since arriving in Canada in 2004, I have chosen to serve, listen to, and advocate for the community that welcomed me: the Francophonie.
By getting involved on the ground, I discovered the strength of the ties that unite our communities and the importance of defending our linguistic, cultural, and educational rights.
My journey led me to serve as President of the Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique (FFCB) for three consecutive terms.
This defining experience allowed me to put my listening skills, diplomacy, and collaborative leadership to work to advance Francophonie in the province — and beyond.
Today, my commitment continues through the promotion of bilingualism, equal opportunities, and cultural diversity.
Because I deeply believe that our strength lies in our unity within diversity.

1. Consensus
In every role I have held, I have always prioritized dialogue and the search for balanced solutions.
Bringing people together rather than dividing them, listening before acting — this philosophy has allowed me to unite diverse voices around shared goals.
My non-partisan commitment has given me the freedom to collaborate with elected officials from all backgrounds, while remaining true to one cause: the well-being of the Francophone community.
Consensus means transforming differences into opportunities for unity.

From the moment I arrived in British Columbia, I actively contributed to Francophone life through several organizations:

These experiences helped me build a strong network and work at the heart of the issues affecting women, families, and newcomers.
3. My Long-Term Vision
My vision for the Francophonie of tomorrow:
Francophonie is a living source of richness — one that must be preserved, strengthened, and passed on with pride.
The challenges are real: the shortage of teachers, the recognition of foreign credentials, and access to French-language services. But these challenges call for innovative and sustainable solutions.
My role is to build strong foundations: to defend our rights, strengthen our institutions, and create bridges across generations and cultures.
I envision an inclusive, vibrant Francophonie — one that is present in every sector of society.

My journey is guided by strong values — but also by concrete achievements:
Francophonie Day Award presented by the Province of British Columbia
Historic legal action on employment services, contributing to the modernization of the Official Languages Act
Enhancement of the 2018–2023 Official Languages Action Plan
Agreement with Vancouver International Airport to provide French-language welcome services
Active participation in developing a provincial French-language services policy
These accomplishments are the result of collective effort, driven by the belief that the Francophonie deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Les défis sont réels : la pénurie d’enseignants, la reconnaissance des diplômes étrangers, ou encore l’accès à des services en français.
Mais ces défis appellent des solutions novatrices et durables.
Mon rôle est de bâtir des fondations solides : défendre nos droits, renforcer nos institutions et créer des ponts entre les générations et les cultures.
Je rêve d’une francophonie inclusive et rayonnante, présente dans tous les secteurs de la société.
